Guitar Professor Earns Fabulous Review

Fareed Haque, professor of guitar in the NIU School of Music, regularly performs around the world, leading his own groups or serving as a sideman to some of the world's leading and most recognized performers (Sting, Paquito D'Rivera, Dave Holland and Joe Zawinul to name a few).

This past weekend, Fareed led his own group, The Flat Earth Ensemble, at Chicago's famed Green Mill jazz club. Howard Reich, noted jazz critic for the Chicago Tribune, wrote a tremendous review of Fareed's and the Ensemble's performance.

Among many glowing phrases and sentences, Mr. Reich had this to say: "...their sonic luster and hypnotic rhythms seemed to hold listeners rapt." The entire review is available here.

It should be noted that NIU School of Music alumnus Willerm Delisfort is the pianist in The Flat Earth Ensemble - Congratulations to both Fareed and Willerm!
