Alumni Voice Recital April 20


Andrzej Stec, tenor, graduated from the NIU School of Music with an undergraduate degree in voice performance. Among other notable performances, Andrzej sang in the opera theater production of "The Rakes Progress."

Andrzej will perform in recital at NIU with his mentor from the University of Montreal, Jean-Eudes Vaillancourt, piano. Andrzej has just attained his DMA from that institution. The recital is at 4:00 p.m. on April 20 in the Music Building Recital Hall. The next day, April 21, at 11:00 a.m. in room 155, Mr. Vaillancourt will present a master class.

Andrzej has been in Chicago Opera Theater's Young Artists Program (2007) and has performed with the Rockford Chamber Orchestra (2007). With Opera Circle, Cleveland, he sang in the U.S. premiere of Elsner's opera "Echo in the Woods," (2010) and was been re-engaged by that company to sing Arturo in Bellini's "I Puritani" in November of 2010 and Szymanowski's "King Roger" in June of 2011. Andrzej participated in the first Voices of Summer class in Vienna, Austria in 2004.

The recital is free and open to the public.
