Steel Pan Alum is World Champion Arranger

Seion Gomez, who earned both his bachelor's degree and master's degree in Steel Pan from the NIU School of Music, is this year's World Champion arranger for steel bands in his native Trinidad and Tobago.

Seion won several categories of steel band performance this year with the St. Vincent's Sion Hill Steel Orchestra from Trinidad. He's moving on to now arrange for New York's Metro Steel Orchestra.
