Theatre Professor Presents at Major Conferences

Patricia Skarbinski, assistant professor in the NIU School of Theatre and Dance, had a busy summer at national conferences.

Patricia co-presented a voice and movement workshop entitled "Sound, Movement and Archetypes" at the Voice and Speech Trainers Association conference which was held in Chicago August 6 through 10. Immediately following that conference, Patricia presented at the Association for Theater in Higher Education conference which was also held in Chicago (August 10 through 14). Her ATHE presentation was a debut panel for the Association of Theater Movement Educators (of which Deborah Robertson, NIU's Associate Dean of the College of Visual and Performing Arts is President). The topic of the panel was "International Performance Experience and Process Examination."

In addition to these two presentations, Patricia attended the Michael Checkhov conference in Boston in early August, where she was enrolled in the teacher training track, working toward her certificate in teaching this particular movement technique.
