School of Art Hosting 'Art Walk' in Downtown DeKalb

The NIU School of Art, in collaboration with the City of DeKalb, is sponsoring "Art Walk DeKalb" tonight, Thursday, April 19. Nine downtown DeKalb locations will feature art work by NIU artists from 6 - 9 p.m.

Complete details may be found here. Congratulations to NIU art professor Bart Woodstrup for making the Art Walk a reality.

The NIU School of Art's ARTLab is sponsoring an event as part "Art Walk DeKalb." ARTLab students will be at our 161 E. Lincoln Highway space drawing and serving up treats.

The Lincoln Highway storefront space has been great for the premise of the seminar class. We have had a good deal of participation from non-NIU people in town, pedestrians, neighbors, and all sorts of folks we hadn't expected meeting and working with. All the work being hung is a result of these endeavors. The seminar students hosted various events at which they taught embroidery, collaborative drawing, poetry reading, performance and more. There are no names on the projects, they are all collaborative and left unclear whether an MFA candidate, a passer-by, our even ARTLab's guest from this week, Derek Guthrie, contributed.
