Music Alum Earns Noted Position

Guitarist, composer and educator Nick Fryer, who earned his MM degree from the NIU School of Music, has been appointed Associate Director of the Brubeck Institute at the University of the Pacific in Stockton, California.

Nick tells us "I am very excited to be a part of the team at the Brubeck Institute! The students at the Brubeck Institute are playing at a very high level and to be involved teaching and mentoring them is very inspiring."

Prior to his appointment at the Brubeck Institute, Nick was a faculty member at Minnesota State University - Moorhead, where he taught guitar, jazz history and improvisation, and directed jazz combos and the guitar ensemble.

Simon Rowe, Executive Director of the Brubeck Institute stated "We are thrilled to welcome Nick to our Brubeck team as an artist, educator and music industry professional." Nick's duties at the Brubeck Institute include assisting with programming while teaching at the University and the Institute.
