Jazz Professor Making National Headlines

Geof Bradfield, Assistant Professor of Jazz Studies and Saxophone in the NIU School of Music, recently premiered his extended work "Melba!" to great acclaim in the Chicago press and jazz community. "Melba!" is in honor of jazz trombonist, composer and arranger Melba Liston (1926-1999).

Now, Geof is taking his work on the road and is making news wherever he performs "Melba!" He recently was interviewed for The Jazz Line by Veronica Grandison. The interview gives great insight into Geof's process of understanding her work and the creation of his tribute to her. The interview may be found here.
