Art Education Professor Earns International Prominence

We're pleased to announce that Richard Siegesmund, Professor of Art + Design Education in the NIU School of Art, has been named a Research Associate to the Research Institute of the National College of Art and Design (NCAD) in Dublin, Ireland. The College, affiliated with University College Dublin, has formal research agendas in the following areas:

• User-First Design
• Contemporary Practices in Art and Design
• Creative and Critical Pedagogies
• Irish Design History and Material Culture
• Design Sustainability

Richard's appointment is grounded in Creative and Critical Pedagogies, but as an Associate he will be able to interact across the spectrum of research interests. Richard's nomination was seconded by the chair of graduate programs in Contemporary Practices in Art and Design. He plans to spend a week in Dublin at the end of May while NCAD is still in session to develop his contributions.

Members of the Research Institute also participate in GradCam, an on-going colloquium in the arts and critical theory composed of professors and graduate students from throughout the Republic of Ireland and Northern Ireland.

Congratulations, Richard!
