Time Arts Professor's Work Appears at International Festival

Bart Woodstrup, professor of Time Arts in the NIU School of Art, created a work entitled "Under Saraswati River" along with composer Curtis Bahn of the Rensellaer Polytechnic Institute. Their work is being performed at Currents 2013 - the Santa Fe International New Media Festival.

Under Saraswati River is an audio-visual piece designed to be performed live or on tape in an immersive environment, such as a planetarium dome. At Currents 2013 it is being performed in the Digital Dome at the Institute of American Indian Arts in Santa Fe, NM. Multiple screenings of the work are taking place on June 15, 16, 22, and 29.

"Saraswati" is in reference to the Hindu Goddess of learning, science, and the arts. Devi Saraswati is considered a river goddess, because she is named for a river that once flowed in Northern India.
