Everyone's Everest Returns!

Several readers will recognize the sculpture Everyone's Everest from residing for many years at the corner of Gilbert Drive and Lucinda Avenue, near both the Art Building and the Music Building. For the past 2 years, while renovations were taking place at Gilbert Hall, artist Barry Hehemann had removed the piece and stored it, as the lawn was being used for staging construction materials.

We're happy to announce that Everyone's Everest has now returned! The work is situated in a new location - just east of the Music Building, between the building and the Kishwaukee River. Long-term plans call for a sculpture garden on this plot, and having Barry's work at this location becomes a great "anchor" to that project.

As visitors climb the stairs, they are treated to single words on each step - each of which is thought provoking and meaningful to many. And, at the top, you are afforded a tremendous view.

Thank you to Barry Hehemann for again providing for the loan of his work and for his assistance and patience through the construction phase.
