Dance Program Featured at National Festival

Linnea Norwood and DK Bardlette

The NIU Dance Program in the School of Theatre and Dance participated in the Central Region American College Dance Festival Conference held at Northeastern Illinois University from March 19-22, 2014.

The conference featured master classes from faculty representing 27 participating university dance programs, including classes taught by NIU dance faculty members Judith Chitwood, Auutmn Eckman, Paula Frasz and Brittany Fridenstine-Keefe.

“Let the Groove Get In,” choreographed by dance major DK Bardlette and pre-med major Derrick Judkkins, was one of ten works (out of 48 adjudicated works) chosen for the Gala Concert. The work was performed by DK Bardlette and dance major Linnea Norwood on Saturday, March 22, 2014. Design/Technology major Stephanie Vera was the lighting designer for the work.

“Let the Groove Get In” was also selected as an alternate for the National College Dance Festival held in Washington, DC in June, 2014.

Congratulations DK, Derrick and Linnea!
