Photography Students Works in Group Show

We are pleased to announce an upcoming exhibition at Mad Art Gallery in St. Louis, MO, featuring the work of photography students from the NIU School of Art and Design. This exhibition, entitled The Desire For…, will run from June 3rd to June 21st, 2014. A public reception will be held on Friday, June 13th, 2014 from 7:00-11:00pm.

As a part of the NIU Art Museum’s programming series, Director of Mad Art Gallery and visual artist Carrie M. Becker came to NIU in March to deliver a lecture about her background and artistic practice. While at NIU, Ms. Becker also met with advanced photography students to evaluate their artwork and offer suggestions for how they might develop and improve as they move forward. She was so impressed with the students’ work that she invited four of them to mount a group exhibition in her gallery. The NIU School of Art and Design and the NIU Art Museum applaud these outstanding young artists on their success.

The participating student artists are Jennifer Knobloch, Elyse Sawka, Brianne Short and Molly Whitman.

Knobloch, a junior, had this to say: “It is a great opportunity because I am an upcoming senior, so this is great experience and I still have another year ahead of me to continue advancing my work before I graduate in May 2015."

Mad Art Gallery is located at 2727 South 12th Street in St. Louis, MO. For more information, please contact Carrie Becker at or call 314-771-8230.
