School of Music Alumna Earns Major Fellowship

NIU School of Music alumna Kerry O'Brien has recently been awarded a prestigious American Association of University Women Fellowship. Kerry is completing her Ph.D. work at Indiana University with a major in musicology.

Kerry's project that earned the fellowship is entitled "Wireless Experimentalism: Experiments in Art and Technology (E.A.T.), 1966-71.

Kerry’s research examines the early history of Experiments in Art and Technology (EAT), an organization designed as a matching agency for artists and engineers interested in multidisciplinary collaboration. She argues that musicians active within this organization used sound to register and manifest what EAT’s founders described as their “technological environment.”

Congratulations, Kerry!
